5 Hallmarks of a Bad Statement of Purpose admission essay tips

As you browse in various sample templates of Statement of Purpose (SoP) or Letter of Intents across the webpage and blogging sites, take note that not all appeal to the readers, in particular with the panel of critics involved.  Consider the fact that SoP is a piece of paper, yet brief and concise personal essay, which could make or break your application with any graduate school.

Five (5) common features of a poorly written SoP are presented here which includes:

  • Grammatical and Typographical Errors
  • A typical feature in every essay; incorrect grammar and typographical error can induce an effect in a sentence.  What you really meant in your statement wasn’t conveyed at all with what you actually wrote about.  This in turn, can be positive or negative depending on the construction clause of your sentence input.  A good statement of purpose must be clear and concise.  Therefore, always check for consistency in grammar and incorrect spelling, as well as placement of punctuation marks.
  •  Too Much Story-Telling.
  • It is a must in writing SoP to just be yourself; however, don’t overdo it by presenting mainly your own achievements and too much of personal opinions and emotional matters as it might in turn, intimidate and displease the jury panel.  The essay must contain only relevant information about yourself, your academic accomplishments, and shared experiences related in choosing the profession you’ve wanted.  Avoid stressing out one-by-one your grade-point averages (GPAs) and discussing evenly why you come up with such as it is already reflected in the form you previously filled up and submitted.
  • Lack of Assertion and Outline.
  • The essay should not contain too many paragraphs that are irrelevant.  It has to make an assertion wherein one can be able to have support sentences for a certain topic which in turn, can defend the paragraph context and justify the information written.  A thorough outline can help in organizing the data content of the entire piece; it acts as a guide both to the author and the critic to fully understand the subject matter being discussed
  •  Excessive Use of Colloquial Words and Excerpts.
  • Be direct to the point.  Avoid using foreign or colloquial words; the reader wouldn’t want to get in touch with a dictionary from time-to-time to check on your flowery remarks.  Excerpts are not mainly fillers; it should hold an important part in your SoP and should act as a supporting statement to your topic.
  •  Plagiarism and Misleading Information.

Each written piece is an intellectual property of a person.  Be original.

Avoid plagiarism and copy-pasting sample documents.  Don’t mislead your readers by having extraneous topics and cliches in your essay.  Again, your statement of purpose must be brief and specific.  Usually in a 2-3 page document format, the SoP or Personal Statement is a highly important document for application.  Have your SoP typewritten in a nice and clean sheet of paper for it to be presentable enough to the jury.  It is suggested that you proofread your material by another professional before having it submitted to your desired graduate school.

Avoid These Silly Real Estate Agent Mistakes

Are you looking to sell properties? Building a career in real estate is one of the tedious tasks. It is an amalgamation of intimidation and frustration. Mistakes are part of life and in real estate mistakes are as common as any other field. These mistakes can be little more frustrating but like others, they are curable.

In this post, we are going to discuss some of the silly mistakes that are common in the realm of real estate. Without further ado, let’s get started,

●      Fails To Keep The Constant Flow Of Communication

The most important aspect of keeping the business intact is keeping a steady flow of communication. Failing to do so will lead you to lose the client. There are many instances where newbie real estate agents lost to be the track of their clients which leads in two cases. They either switch their agent or they lose interest in the property. Either way, the agent will lose the client.

Do not fall for such mistakes. Keep them close to you. Make them feel valued. Show them that you care for their well being and show that you intend to help them find the best property.

●      Not Making New Prospects Everyday

This seems pretty convincing. There are many instances where cold calls in real estate market seem mere luck. But I can assure you it is pure practice. All the new real estate agents feel uncomfortable in cold calling potential clients. This mostly leads to bizarre start which can later result in an unsuccessful career.

You don’t want that for you. Keep making new prospects each day. This will result fruitful in your future. New real estate agents might find it difficult in talking to someone whom they just saw on their computer screen. Whether you believe it or not, this is one of the practices that will make you veteran real estate agent one day.

●      Spending Time Doing Wrong Things

Time is the one thing which can be one of the most profitable investments for sure if used correctly. New real estate agents usually do something at this time which they regret afterwards. I know it is intimidating. You don’t want to feel bad once you give so much time to some activity and later find it worthless.

Plan your approach accordingly and all the results will shift in your direction. Poor time management is yet another common mistake you need to avoid or your career will fall into oblivion.

●      Are You Still Not Using Social Media!!

Real estate is a business with a lot of competition. The nature of market can shift in a second. In such dynamic area, if you are still relying on traditional marketing strategies, then my dear friend you need to think again.

Social media platform is a new way to market your product. For a real estate agent, real estate property is their product/service (Although they don’t produce it). You need to leverage the reach of the social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Pinterest, Snapchat, and much more than that. This entire community gives attention to your business and clients will flow. So, take advantage of these amazing social media platform and get clients like never before.

●      Not Focusing In One Area

The rookie mistake in real estate can be pretending to know everything. Not focusing on one particular area can lead your career down to zero. You probably don’t want to do that do you? For instance, take an example of any big company. Say Expedia, they offer travel related services. The service list is exhaustive but all fall under travels only (Note that they have number employees to cover that).

You as a person can focus on only one thing. Don’t be a hobo with a closet of magic. Be expert in one thing. That can be either condominiums, rented property, or anything of your choice but only one. Expertise on that with focus and your career will flow like a giant river.

●      No Time For Self Improvement

This can cause a denting effect not only in your career but also in your life. Life is a process of mistakes and improvements. The biggest mistake of your life can be not learning from the mistake. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, take a time out and evaluate what gone wrong and rectify it.

You don’t have to invest much time on that but yes you should invest at least a little time. Give yourself a chance first and then ask your client to give you one (Chance).

●      Are You Less Determinant?

This is the biggest mistake of all in real estate industry. Hard work is non-negotiable in the business. You skip that, the profit will skip you entirely. There is no denying in that. You need to work hard to get hold of clients, be in touch with them, seek out to be a mentor. All of the tasks required determination and if you lack that, you lack everything.

Over To You Fellas

In the end, it all falls under your shoulder whether you embrace it or not. Everyone makes mistakes and that is certainly not new. However, not learning from that mistake can be daunting and lead you to your downfall.

Let me put a summary of the above points to make sure that you get the point,

  • The most important aspect of keeping the business intact is keeping a steady flow of communication. Failing to do so will lead you to lose the client.
  • Keep making new prospects each day. This will result fruitful in your future. New real estate agents might find it difficult in talking to someone whom they just saw on their computer screen.
  • Plan your approach accordingly and all the results will shift in your direction. Poor time management is yet another common mistake you need to avoid or your career will fall into oblivion.
  • Social media platform is a new way to market your product. You need to leverage the reach of the social media platform like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linkedin, Pinterest, Snapchat, and much more than that.
  • The rookie mistake in real estate can be pretending to know everything. Not focusing on one particular area can lead your career down to zero.
  • This can cause a denting effect not only in your career but also in your life. Life is a process of mistakes and improvements. The biggest mistake of your life can be not learning from the mistake.
  • This is the biggest mistake of all in real estate industry. Hard work is non-negotiable in the business.

I hope you do get the point. Plan your approach and nail success on your wall. All the best with that.

Unique Ways to Propose

You may be pondering about asking the person of your dreams to marry you. Yet, getting down on one knee and proposing with a gorgeous ring without a secret theme or the perfect setting may be too traditional for your taste ― and hers. Don’t worry! Below are six unique ideas that may help you create the most unforgettable proposal to your future bride.

Send Her on a Treasure Hunt

Organizing a treasure hunt will take some time and planning, but it’s worth it. Choose a day when she’s usually not busy and leave notes and clues instructing her to travel to different areas around the city. Before you know it, she will end up at the ultimate location ― in your presence, awaiting your proposal.

Design a Crafty Notebook Cover

If your lady is a writer or artist, she may have a couple of notebooks that are full of random notes, story ideas, drawings, and doodles. Surprise her with a notebook with a specially designed cover that says, “Will You Marry Me?” “I’m Ready to Spend the Rest of My Life With You,” or something creative and catchy that will encourage her to open it. On the inside pages, handwrite the reasons why you love her and why you want to marry her. Work with a designer, if necessary, to help you choose the right font, color, and style of text.

Take Her to a Beach She Loves

Beautiful waves crashing on the shore with the sun setting in the horizon creates an ambiance like know other. Bring her to a beach you both love to visit and give her the impression that it’s just a typical beach day ― except leave a trail of rose petals or candles to a place on the sand where you plan to propose. You will probably need a close friend or beach employee to help with the setup. But the scenery, along with your proposal, will be something both of you will never forget.

Write a Song ― and Perform It

If you’re a singer in a band, she’s probably attended your shows before and had a great time. Put together a small event where you (and the band members, if you like) can have a short concert and serenade her with a song you’ve written specially for her, and propose. Or, halfway through the song, pretend you are having some technical difficulties and decide to just tell her what you were going to sing to her ― on bended knee ― and propose. Either way, it’s a win-win proposal.

Surprise Her at a Sporting Event

A proposal at a game is definitely a win. Get your friends together and give each of them a poster with a letter on it. At a specified time, instruct them to stand and hold up each letter, so it reads, “Will You Marry Me?” Tell her to look at the sign, giving her the biggest surprise of her life. Or, add the proposal to the ticker that runs horizontally across the stands in the stadium. This kind of proposal is a memorable one, especially if she’s not necessarily a sports fan. Moving forward, every game she attends or watches on TV will remind her of your special proposal.

Let Art Do the Proposing

Paintings, sculptures, illustrated drawings, and everything in between are not only beautiful, but are forms of expression that can drive emotions and thoughts. Visit a theme park that has a caricaturist on site and have the artist create a whimsical drawing of you two, adding the text, “Will You Marry Me?” on the finished product. Not only is it a fun proposal, but it’s a form of art that can be cherished in your home for years to come.

Plunging into Content Management Solution: Taking the Deep Dive

Your content management system is the foundation of your content assets. This one platform is the significant driver that pulls users towards higher engagement, better response and increased conversions. An effective content management system not only lets content writers upload or edit content, but it manages and allows you to repurpose content as and when required.  Investing into a CMS platform is a big decision that involves cost and human-resources. Once set-up, it is necessary that your team understands the platform and uses the CMS to its maximum potential.

However, this is not as easy as it sounds. Installing the right solution incorporates a number of important steps. You need to sit with your team and understand the gaps and how a CMS can fulfil them. Then comes selecting the right platform and vendor to best suit your business needs. This in itself is a long drawn process and needs due diligence from management. Once CMS and chosen and you have the infrastructure set up in your business environment, comes the toughest part: familiarizing your content team with the new system and helping them adapt to this change.

Installation is one end of the stick and the other end is implementation. Working on an altogether new platform can be tough. If the editors or content writers are unable to fathom the workflow, it can be demotivating. Thus success of a CMS platform depends on how well it was implemented and how easily and simply the content team was able to understand, adapt and use the CMS for delivering all content needs. There is no one set formula but rather, management needs to chalk out a framework that can support employees to understand the new platform and ensure that everyone is on the same page. Implementation needs to be broken down into simple manageable steps to ensure each one of team-members can make the most of the platform.

The journey from an unstructured way of authoring to a more structured manner can be tough for writers. Even before the CMS is put to use, encourage your authors to start thinking content in terms of a framework or a structure. Structured content involves a more analytical frame of mind and your team needs to start thinking differently in order to make the process easier and quicker.

To ease out the process, encourage your team to start using some of the basic functionalities of the CMS. Start with unstructured documents such as your ms word files and begin to use your CMS platform as a central repository for your documents. Carry out simple processes and track your changes to see the difference. Slowly and steadily, you will get a hang of how the system works. By and by start to convert active content into XML components and go granular.

These steps can help your content to to understand and easily take a plunge into the new Content Management Solution platform. As much as that is important, it is equally imperative to provide training. Choose a content management solution where the vendor is ready to provide prompt support as and when needed and is also able to help in on-boarding the team to better understand how the new system works. A CMS platform can take your content delivery to the next level and it’s important that your team understands and makes use of all the rich features that a CMS platform can offer.

5 Step Plan for Achieving Your Goals

All of us dream to live a more fulfilling, enriched life.  Sometimes, our goals seem so hopelessly impossible to achieve so we give them up before we have even started.  According to motivational speakers in Boise, we have the power to change our lives with the help of a positive mindset.  Sometimes, we fail to achieve our goals because the methods we use are not good enough.  These five tips will help you to make your dream a reality.

Pick one goal

If you have a dream, it shouldn’t let you sleep! Your dream has to be that intense that you should be thinking about all day and night. Such dreams work as fuel to charge you up to achieve what you want.  There is a tendency in us to observe what others do for success and follow it.  First realize that they follow their own dreams and vision.  What they find worth dying for might not be your dream. They get mega success because they have great passion for what they do. You should find your passion and start investing in it with everything you have got.  If you fake passion and pretend to like something, you are going to be disappointed soon.  There will be a point where you start questioning your own purpose and objective and that will always lead to failure.

Define your goal and make it measurable

If you want great success, you have to clearly define your goal.  It should have a vivid, measurable end point. When you define your goal clearly, you can easily track its progress. Some people wish, “I will be rich, this year”.  Such generic statements don’t help your purpose because it doesn’t clearly define your end goal. It doesn’t define how much money you want to make and the time period for achieving it.  When we could see how far we have come in reaching our goals, that very fact can motivate us beyond our expectations.

Break the goal into small tasks

Your goals must be really challenging and life changing.  Bigger goals excite you and fuel you to work hard and smart. You will feel a great sense of achievement when you progress step by step.  That particular sense of satisfaction will help you to tackle the challenges in a more positive way.  Easy goals never give you that real satisfaction you crave. But great goals scare people and instill a ‘fear of failure’ in them. So they stop attempting and end up doing nothing to achieve their objective.  There is a simple solution for this mental block- Just break your goals down into small tasks and focus on completing one task at a time.  For example, if an aspiring runner wants to compete in a marathon, he needs to focus on completing just one mile because that’s how you begin.  Once it appears to be achievable, he can progress fast by taking up bigger challenges and improving his own personal records.  This is how he can grow to be a champion runner.  This might be a feat he could never have imagined when he thought of participating in the marathon.  Every time when you find yourself struggling to achieve a goal, take small steps and it will help you progress well.

Plan the process

One of the Boise Motivational Speaker has rightly said “A dream cannot be a reality if you don’t have a great plan to execute it properly”.  Write down your plans, define them properly, and spread the news to your close relatives and friends.  Once you spread the news among people, you will be more committed to do it without having any excuses.

Get out and get rolling

By the time you reach step 5, you have a vivid idea about your plan and know how to execute your plans. Now, all you have to do is to make calls, get out and get the process rolling!  Don’t expect your plans to fall in place as exactly as you planned them. It will never happen that way! You need to expect some slipups in the process and hurdles in the way.  You need to be prepared to see them as a temporary passing phase. You shouldn’t let small setbacks to dishearten you.  Keep moving and eventually, you will achieve your goal!
