Rishikesh is a city situated in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and is popularly known as “The Gateway of Garhwal Himalayas”. It is the starting point of the four Chota Char Dham of hindu pilgrims, including Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri. One of the most famous places to visit here include Lakshman Jhula, which is an iron suspension bridge made over the river Ganges to cross the holy river. Legends say that Lakshmana crossed the holy river of Ganges on jute ropes over which this bridge has been built. Later a bridge was constructed over those ropes and was named over Lord Lakshmana. The bridge offers some of most spectacular views of the city. Another similar attraction near Lakshman Jhula is the Ram Jhula situated at Muni ki Reti. This site is home to countless religious centres and ashrams. Moreover Ram Jhula acts as the connecting bridge between Gita Bhawan, Swargashram and a lot of other temples with the Sivananda Ashram.
