Blog can be described as an informational or discussion site which is mostly published in the Internet. It usually comprises of separate and distinct posts. Occasionally it covered a single subject.

Most recently the development of multi author blogs (MABs) began, along with many entries. Those entries were written by huge numbers of authors and also edited in a professional manner. The increasing quantities of the traffic of blogging were accounted by interest groups and institutions, think tanks, universities, other media outlets and MABs from newspapers. The uprising of Twitter and other kinds of “micro blogging systems” assists in the integration of the MABs. The single author blogs were usually integrated in to the societal new streams. Blog can be also utilized as a verb, denoting to add content to it and maintain it.

The growth and emergence of the blogs began in the late 1990s, coinciding with the coming in to existence of web publishing tools. These tools further made the posting of the content easier by the non-technical users. In the earlier times, FTP and HTML was needed for publishing content in the Internet. A vast majority of people are interactive by the process of blogging, permitting many visitors to give their comments. Plenty of messages could be exchanged with each other with the GUI widgets on those blogs. However this kind of interactivity differentiates blogs with other static websites.

In a broader sense, a major form of social networking is blogging. However the bloggers not only create content for posting their blogs but also creating social relations. Several blogs offer commentary on specific subjects. The more utilities of blogs are like an online brand advertising of a specific company or individual; or like a personal online diary. It is an interactive format which has been produced by the ability of the readers to leave their opinions.

Interactive format further results as a vital contribution to the uprising of other blogs. Sufficient amounts of blogs are primarily textual. However certain focus on audio (podcasts), music (MP3 blogs), videos (video blogs or “vlogs”), art (art blogs) and photographs (photo blogs).

Another kind of blogging is micro blogging which consists of precise posts. Blogs are utilized as instructional resources in the field of education, referred as edu-blogs. As regarding the critics, Blogger is the most famous blogging service till date. Blogs is a powerful tool for communication for the news services, consultants and politicians. The prospects of the websites are increased by blogging, attracting many viewers to it.
