Mahindra NuvoSport – SUV
The Mahindra NuvoSport is one of the biggest launches for Mahindra & Mahindra in 2016. This compact seven seater SUV has already generated huge interest amongst fans and loyalists of the brand along with prospective car buyers in the compact SUV segment.
Apart from knowing the on road prices, here are the top 6 facts that you should definitely know about-
With bookings open for INR 10, 000, the Mahindra NuvoSport can be confirmed for purchase right away at your nearest dealership. There has been no official confirmation from Mahindra & Mahindra but dealerships are accepting bookings for the compact SUV in lieu of this small and token amount. According to sources, the number of bookings is already higher than expected which augurs well for India’s largest utility vehicle maker.
Design wise, the Mahindra NuvoSport is a replacement for the Quanto which retains the basic body structure and even the rear looks quite similar even though the front fascia has been completely changed and face lifted. This is an all new car in that respect with a complete interior and exterior makeover alike. The NuvoSport improves on each and every aspect as compared to the Quanto, particularly keeping the new headlights, LED DRLs, narrow grille, high bonnet line, big bumper, brushed metal sump guards at both front and rear and the floating roof into context. There will also be round fog lamps and 5 spoke alloy wheels for higher variants in addition to seating for seven people.
There will be four grades for the NuvoSport spread through six unique variants, namely the N4, N6, N4+, N8, N6 AMT and N8. ABS may be a standard feature throughout the entire vehicle lineup while dual airbags are likely to be optional for the N4 grade. The top end N8 grade will get steering mounted buttons, Bluetooth, touch screen audio system, voice command recognition, tilt steering adjustability and alloy wheels among other features.
The NuvoSport makes use of the same platform as that of the new generation Scorpio and does not use the previous platform used for the Quanto. This automatically means that the compact SUV will offer better handling, balance and drivability in comparison to its predecessor. This may well be a good move from Mahindra & Mahindra. This should also mean that the NuvoSport is likely to get a longer wheelbase than the NuvoSport in spite of being a sub 4m vehicle.
The new NuvoSport is slated to come with a trusted and time tested 1.5 litre diesel engine which is also used for the TUV300. However, there will be a 1.2 litre petrol engine option like the KUV100 and Mahindra is reportedly considering an AMT gearbox option for the NuvoSport apart from the likely 5 speed manual transmission unit for all regular variants.
The NuvoSport will be launched on the 4th of April and Mahindra & Mahindra will definitely look to price the car competitively in order to outstrip rivals like the Ford EcoSport and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The prices are estimated to be between INR 6-8.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). You can check on road prices in Delhi here.
